President of El Salvador Meets Elon Musk at Tesla to Discuss AI

President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele visited Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas to meet with Elon Musk and discuss the future of AI, Bitcoin, and El Salvador’s role in tech innovation.

On Friday Elon Musk and the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele posted about the meeting on X. They both discussed “the nature of reality, the future of humanity, and how technology like AI and robotics will affect the world”.

“Just had an excellent conversation with President Nayib Bukele,” Musk posted to X, a social media platform. He said El Salvador has an amazing leader.

Nayib Bukele said, “It was a pleasure to spend several hours talking with one of the great minds of our time”.

In 2021 Nayib Bukele made history when he adopted bitcoin as legal tender in El Salvador. In the video filmed at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas, they discussed the U.S.’s future and predicted the country’s future is uncertain.

Last month Nayib Bukele confessed that the adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador has not met the aspiring goal, saying there have been challenges and the implementation could have been improved but despite the drawbacks there have been positive outcomes.

Several initiatives are taken by Nayib Bukele to integrate Bitcoin into El Salvador’s economy such as Bitcoin Bonds via volcano-powered computers, a Citizenship-Through-Investment scheme to attract foreign investment, and a bitcoin stash worth $360 million.

In 2021 Elon Musk was the major driver of the Bitcoin and the Crypto market. He purchased $1.5 billion in Bitcoin through Tesla and in 2022 sold most of Bitcoin to help Tesla report a quarterly profit.
