French Authorities arrested the Telegram CEO and Founder Pavel Durov at a Paris Airport on Saturday Evening. Is this due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine?
Pavel Durov Founder and Ceo of Telegram was arrested at Paris Le Bourget airport on Saturday evening after landing in France from Azerbaijan. According to French Media, Pavel Durov has been placed in the police custody. French Lawyer declined to comment on Durov’s arrest and ongoing investigation. No, it is not due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Reasons Why Pavel Durov was Arrested?
The subject of an arrest warrant issued by France based on allegations that his encrypted platform Telegram has been used for many illegal activities such as:

- Money Laundering
- Drug Trafficking
- Sexual Exploitation of Minors
- And Many Other Criminal Charges
West Governments have even criticized Telegram for its lack of moderation in messaging services.
Why Pavel Durov Exited From Russia?
Pavel Durov exited from Russia in 2014 after refusing to comply with the government’s demands to shut down opposition communities on his VKontakte social media platform, then he sold his 12% stake of VKontakte social media platform to Ivan Tavrin. And he said I would rather be free than to take orders from anyone.
